Allopurinol 100mg is an oral medication used primarily to lower uric acid levels in the blood. It is commonly prescribed for the prevention and treatment of gout, kidney stones caused by high uric acid, and certain conditions associated with increased uric acid production.

Indications:

• Gout and gouty arthritis
• Hyperuricemia (high uric acid levels)
• Prevention of uric acid kidney stones
• Management of uric acid levels in patients undergoing chemotherapy

Administration:

• Take orally, usually once daily or as prescribed by your doctor
• Can be taken with or after meals to reduce stomach upset
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication to help prevent kidney stones

Precautions:

• Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to allopurinol
• Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems
• May interact with other medications such as azathioprine or mercaptopurine

Side Effects:

• Rash, nausea, diarrhea
• Rare: severe allergic reactions or liver issues

Storage:

• Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight
• Keep out of reach of children
